Supervision:
This position does not have any direct reports.

Position Summary:
The Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing cleaning and maintenance tasks within a healthcare environment under close supervision. This role involves a variety of duties aimed at ensuring that facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition. Candidates should possess knowledge of cleaning practices and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform cleaning, dusting, and polishing of furniture, cabinets, and other surfaces while adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
2. Clean stairwells, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other areas, including the removal of waste and soiled materials.
3. Maintain cleanliness of walls, ceilings, floors, and fixtures, ensuring all areas are sanitized and free from hazards.
4. Empty waste receptacles, vacuum floors, and assist with the arrangement of furniture and equipment as necessary.
5. Disinfect and sanitize various areas, restocking bathroom supplies as needed.
6. Select appropriate cleaning materials and supplies to complete daily tasks effectively.
7. Follow safety data sheets and cleaning product instructions to ensure safe usage.
8. Manage scheduled pickups of waste and biohazard materials.
9. Be flexible to work various shifts and locations as required by operational needs.
10. Maintain the cleanliness of storage areas.
11. Respond to urgent cleaning requests and environmental emergencies.
12. Communicate effectively with staff and security personnel.
13. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
Prior experience in custodial services within a healthcare setting is preferred.
Ability to learn and apply cleaning methods suitable for medical facilities.
Proficient in reading and following written instructions for the safe use of chemicals and equipment.
Strong communication skills to interact with clients and staff effectively.
Ability to build positive working relationships with colleagues and clients.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities in the workplace.

Mental and Physical Requirements:
This role requires sufficient strength, agility, and endurance to perform tasks effectively in a demanding environment.

Education:
High School Diploma or GED is required.

Certificates or Licenses:
None required, but may vary based on local and state regulations.

Physical Demands:
Employees must be capable of performing the following tasks for extended periods:
- Maneuvering throughout the worksite
- Standing and walking
- Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping
- Lifting items weighing up to 35 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Pushing or pulling cleaning equipment and carts
- Climbing ladders or step stools as necessary.

Work Environment:
This position is performed in a healthcare facility with specific security and environmental control needs. Employees may encounter confined spaces and must adhere to strict protocols while working in areas that may expose them to various environmental factors.
