Supervision:
This position does not have any direct reports.

Position Summary:
Under close supervision, the Environmental Services Technician is responsible for performing various cleaning and maintenance tasks within a healthcare environment. This role involves ensuring that facilities are maintained in a clean and safe condition, requiring knowledge of cleaning practices and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities:
1. *Perform cleaning, dusting, and polishing of furniture, fixtures, and surfaces while adhering to safety and infection control protocols.
2. *Maintain cleanliness in stairwells, hallways, restrooms, offices, and other areas.
3. *Clean walls, ceilings, baseboards, floors, doors, and light fixtures;
4. *Empty waste receptacles, vacuum floors, and assist in rearranging furniture as needed;
5. *Disinfect and sanitize areas, ensuring restrooms are stocked with necessary supplies;
6. *Select appropriate cleaning materials and supplies for daily tasks;
7. *Interpret and follow safety data sheets and cleaning product instructions;
8. *Manage scheduled pickups of waste and biohazard materials;
9. *Be prepared to work various shifts and locations as required by operational needs;
10. *Maintain organization in storage areas;
11. *Respond to environmental emergencies and assist as needed;
12. *Communicate effectively with staff and security personnel;
13. Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Essential Functions:
This role is critical in maintaining a safe and sanitary environment within the facility.

Minimum Qualifications:
Previous experience in custodial services within a healthcare setting is preferred;
Ability to learn effective cleaning methods for hospital facilities;
Ability to read and follow instructions for safe use of cleaning chemicals and equipment;
Strong communication skills to interact with clients and team members;
Ability to build positive working relationships with staff and customers;
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.

Mental and Physical Requirements:
This position requires the ability to maintain physical stamina and endurance to handle stressful situations encountered on the job without compromising health and safety.

Education Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED

Certificates or Licenses:
Licenses or certifications may be required based on local and state regulations.

Physical Demands:
Employees must be capable of performing the following tasks for extended periods:
- Maneuvering throughout the worksite
- Standing and walking
- Bending, kneeling, reaching, and stooping
- Lifting items weighing up to 35 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Pushing or pulling cleaning equipment
- Climbing ladders or step stools as necessary.

Work Environment:
This position is performed in a healthcare facility with specific security and environmental control needs. Employees may encounter various conditions, including exposure to cleaning chemicals and infectious materials, and may work in high-security areas.
