Job Title: Business Segment Leader

Job Summary:

The Business Segment Leader is responsible for managing a core team of individuals focused on the customers in the Vacuum Business Segment. As the leader, the Business Segment Leader will lead, manage and hold accountable a team of project managers, estimators, manufacturing engineers, CAD operators and design engineers to meet the goals for their segment.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the daily activities of the segment team, including assigning work for project management, estimating, manufacturing engineering, design and mechanical engineering, and CAD.
  • Set annual, monthly and weekly goals for their business segment in support of the overall company goals.
  • Set individual goals for each member of the team.
  • Coach and mentor team members and support their professional growth and development.
  • Define job controls, including processes, procedures, reporting, etc., to manage their team's work.
  • Review and monitor progress of individual projects to ensure milestones are being met.
  • Manage business segment effectiveness to ensure it meets performance targets, including profitability, on-time delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to establish segment strategy and annual goals.
  • Maintain positive relationships with existing customers, including developing new customers with sales representatives.
  • Manage risks and issues that arise over the course of various projects.
  • Prioritize competing project deliverables against team capacity. Develop and encourage overlapping skill sets to create flexible capacity within their team's core functions.
  • Make bid/no-bid decisions for all new opportunities.
  • Maintain a schedule of all team work.
  • Ensure deliverables are aligned across projects.
  • Develop metrics and key performance indicators for their team, including achievement of estimated versus actual metrics, as well as capture lessons learned.
  • Coordinate/communicate and plan activities with other personnel, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach.
  • Ensure a favorable company image is presented to customers, and that all customer relationships are based on honesty and integrity.
  • Perform related work as apparent or assigned.
  • Comply with company and department policies and procedures as applicable.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or business management or related field with 7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment. Experience with ultra-high vacuum technology is also required. Proven experience in program management, solid team building and organizational skills, and competency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook, are essential. Knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling tools, preferably Solid Works, and ERP systems, preferably Made to Manage, is also necessary. PMP certification is a plus. Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills are required. A positive attitude and a strong desire to learn and grow are essential.
