Position Summary

The Senior Electrical Design Engineer will leverage their extensive technical and professional knowledge to develop electrical engineering solutions that align with project objectives. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of the consulting engineering workflow and the associated contractual documents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define project scope and utilize advanced software tools to create designs for electrical systems, including lighting, power distribution, emergency power systems, fire alarm systems, and security solutions.
  • Develop cost-effective layouts, determine specifications, and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
  • Prepare and coordinate Building Information Modeling (BIM) drawings, collaborating with various disciplines throughout all project phases, including schematic design, design development, permitting, and construction documentation.
  • Conduct construction administration duties, which include site inspections, review of shop drawings, and preparation of punch lists.
  • Establish project scope and ensure accurate representation in contract documents, managing any potential scope changes to maintain client satisfaction and project timelines.
  • Foster strong relationships and maintain effective communication with clients, architects, owners, and other professionals involved in the engineering project.
  • Provide mentorship to junior electrical engineers and designers.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in leading and coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • At least 10 years of experience in electrical engineering management and design, particularly in commercial sectors such as aviation, higher education, healthcare, hospitality, entertainment, or government facilities.
  • A degree in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
  • Experience with various project delivery methods, including design-build and fast-track.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of local, state, and national codes, along with an understanding of regulations affecting engineering practices.
  • Proficiency in Revit MEP is required, along with familiarity with other engineering software.
  • Strong technical skills in Microsoft O365 and web applications.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; capable of conveying information clearly in various formats.
  • Ability to create original specifications for project systems and components, as well as comprehensive project manuals.
  • Technical knowledge and hands-on experience to evaluate different electrical engineering configurations effectively.
  • Experience in cost management and the ability to provide comparative cost analysis for engineering solutions.
