About the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE)

The School of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Georgia Tech is a major contributor to the education of electrical and computer engineers in the U.S. With nearly 2,600 students enrolled, our programs consistently rank among the top in the nation. ECE is committed to excellence in both traditional and emerging fields of research.

Position Overview

The National Electric Energy Testing, Research and Application Center (NEETRAC) is seeking a dedicated and skilled electrical engineer to take on the role of principal investigator in our medium and high voltage testing laboratories. This position involves leading complex projects that address a variety of research and testing needs for our members.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Engage in multiple concurrent projects.
  2. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of electrical engineering principles.
  3. Collaborate with NEETRAC clients to formulate project proposals based on their technical requirements.
  4. Implement practical and thorough experimental programs.
  5. Conduct laboratory and field testing, both independently and collaboratively.
  6. Propose project ideas and enhancements to NEETRAC members.
  7. Analyze and curate utility performance and measurement data.
  8. Travel as necessary for fieldwork and technical discussions with members.

Qualifications:

Research Engineer I:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.

Research Engineer II:

  • Master's degree with three years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's degree with five years of relevant experience post-Bachelor's, or
  • Doctoral degree in a related discipline.

This position is open rank, and the final designation will be based on the combination of education and experience.
