Position Summary:
The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the timely, efficient, and profitable transportation and delivery of all rental equipment. This role involves collaboration with Drivers, Rental Coordinators, Rental Managers, and various departments to guarantee the highest level of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the Central Dispatch Profit and Loss Statement.
- Maintain vendor usage and costs within company standards by optimizing the use of company-owned resources.
- Conduct performance evaluations for Haul Truck Drivers.
- Manage disciplinary actions and documentation for direct reports.
- Negotiate hauling rates with external vendors.
- Coordinate shipment routing and asset utilization to meet customer requirements.
- Supervise and manage drivers' hours of service.
- Establish delivery priorities.
- Implement best practices for cost-effective shipping methods to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
- Evaluate and determine the proper use of all trucks and transportation equipment assigned to the department.
- Ensure compliance with all inspections and BITs for the delivery fleet.
- Oversee all transportation-related billing.
- Assist with deliveries as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in the equipment rental industry, ideally in roles such as foreman, mechanic, truck driver, or sales representative. Military experience in a related field is also acceptable.
- Preferred advanced education from a technical school, specialized business institution, military training, or equivalent practical experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of trucking and heavy equipment transportation.
- Proficient in various computer applications.
- Strong communication skills and exceptional customer relations abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequent walking and movement across uneven surfaces.
- Ability to handle and manipulate equipment and tools.
- Capable of lifting items up to 60 lbs. with regular exertion.
- Requires reaching in various directions.
- Ability to stoop and bend as necessary.
- Standing for extended periods may be required.
- Climbing in and out of equipment is necessary.
- Vision to read documents and bills.
- Effective communication skills for both in-person and telecommunication interactions.
- Ability to sit in vehicles and equipment for extended periods.
Work Environment:
- Exposure to constant or intermittent noise.
- Work may occur in various temperature and weather conditions.
- Potential exposure to unpleasant odors, fumes, and harsh substances.
