Position Summary:

The Senior Pharmacy Technician plays a crucial role in delivering pharmacy services, which encompass preparing and distributing medications to various departments, processing outpatient prescriptions, maintaining cleanliness in pharmacy areas, managing automated pharmacy systems, overseeing inventory, conducting quality assurance checks, and providing exemplary customer service. This position operates under the direct guidance of a licensed pharmacist as part of a collaborative healthcare team, ensuring the provision of superior, patient-centered pharmacy services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the ethical practice of pharmacy by delivering accurate, timely, and safe pharmacy services under pharmacist supervision.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and organizational policies.
  • Process prescription orders efficiently; accurately measure, count, and prepare medications as instructed.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of all pharmacy activities, ensuring oversight by a pharmacist.
  • Engage in effective communication with patients, healthcare staff, and pharmacy colleagues, fostering a supportive environment.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, safety concerns, or medication discrepancies promptly.

Operational Duties:

  • Support inventory management by receiving and stocking products, ensuring compliance with storage protocols.
  • Prepare medications for use, including compounding and labeling, while adhering to safety standards.
  • Utilize automated systems for medication distribution, ensuring timely delivery to patient care areas.
  • Process outpatient prescriptions with precision, ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with regulations.
  • Conduct medication histories by interviewing patients and verifying information through appropriate channels.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with departmental standards.

Qualifications:

  • A minimum of four years of pharmacy experience is required.
  • Strong interpersonal and mathematical skills are essential for effective communication and medication management.
  • Ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
