Position Overview

The Medicare Sales Consultant enhances access to health insurance by providing education and assistance to Medicare beneficiaries. This role involves health education through the distribution of informative materials and coordinating health screenings. Additionally, the Medicare Sales Consultant aids in the continuation of health insurance and offers support with recertification processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify potential enrollees and assess eligibility for participation in MetroPlusHealth Plan's Medicare offerings.
  • Understand and apply all relevant policies and procedures related to:
  • Disclosures and provisions of the MetroPlusHealth Plan Medicare product.
  • Enrollment and disenrollment processes.
  • Conduct telephonic or virtual consultations and personalized appointments as necessary to complete the enrollment process.
  • Promote MetroPlusHealth Medicare services at virtual events and during telephonic discussions.
  • Comprehend covered benefits, non-covered benefits, exclusions, and exemptions.
  • Educate enrollees on all aspects of the Plan, addressing inquiries regarding its features and benefits.
  • Stay informed and comply with current marketing activity guidelines set by regulatory agencies, ensuring enrollees receive all necessary materials and documentation.
  • Complete applications and reports, such as Presumptive Eligibility reports and personnel forms, accurately and promptly.
  • Collaborate closely with Outreach Representatives, Customer Service Representatives, Eligibility Representatives, and other MetroPlusHealth staff to resolve member concerns regarding complaints and potential enrollments or disenrollments.
  • Establish and maintain positive working relationships with community and provider organizations, as well as City and State regulatory agencies.
  • Assist members in accessing healthcare, transportation needs, and other services as required.
  • Engage in telemarketing and outreach efforts as needed.
  • Develop a presence in the local community to facilitate enrollments.
  • Conduct virtual presentations to large groups of seniors.
  • Participate in field presentations and enrollment activities as required by the department or community partners.
  • Complete Annual Medicare Training as mandated.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED required; College Degree or relevant coursework preferred.
  • 2-3 years of Sales or Customer Relations experience required.
  • Experience in Medicare Sales preferred.
  • Public speaking experience is essential.
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation and problem-solving abilities.
  • Highly motivated and goal-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a diverse, multi-ethnic environment.
  • Awareness of chronic conditions and disabilities.
  • Bi-lingual and Multi-lingual skills are advantageous.
  • Self-confidence, independent thinking, and professional presentation are necessary.
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to learn.

Licensure and Certification Requirements

  • Must possess a valid NYS Life, Accident, and Health License upon employment, maintaining its validity throughout employment without lapses. Continuing education requirements must be fulfilled, and the license must be renewed prior to expiration.
