Position Overview:
The Academic Coach acts as a crucial link between educational institutions and various stakeholders involved in degree programs that utilize competency-based and alternative modalities. This role is pivotal in managing student progress and ensuring optimal academic success. The Academic Coach collaborates closely with department heads to facilitate the effective execution and oversight of essential program components, including student orientations and ongoing recruitment efforts.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Facilitates informative sessions for students to ensure they are well-informed about program policies and procedures.
  2. Acts as a liaison between the institution and relevant external entities.
  3. Designs personalized, student-focused educational plans to foster successful academic journeys.
  4. Consults with faculty to enhance student course completion rates.
  5. Engages in collaborative departmental meetings to analyze assessment data aimed at improving student outcomes.
  6. Collects and interprets data regarding student progress and overall program performance for reporting purposes.
  7. Ensures the accuracy of course offerings, major classifications, and program details in collaboration with program leadership.
  8. Provides comprehensive advising throughout the academic journey, guiding students to relevant resources for career exploration.
  9. Assists students in creating course schedules tailored to their individual needs and academic goals.
  10. Takes the lead on early intervention strategies and follow-up for assigned students.
  11. Offers information on academic policies related to probation, suspension, and satisfactory progress.
  12. Informs students about financial aid options and scholarship processes.
  13. Supports students in resolving issues and connects them with appropriate campus resources.
  14. Maintains confidentiality of student records and manages electronic student information.
  15. Collaborates with students and academic departments, utilizing the institution's learning management system.
  16. Contributes to departmental budget planning and feedback processes.
  17. Stays informed about institutional policies regarding academic standards.
  18. May require travel within the college district as necessary.
  19. Serves as a Campus Security Authority.
  20. Performs additional duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  1. A Master's degree is required; a Master's in Information Technology or Management Information Systems is preferred.
  2. A minimum of three years of experience in student advising or case management is required.
  3. Experience within a higher education setting is preferred.


Background Checks:
  1. This position is security sensitive; all applicants will undergo a criminal background check.
  2. Additionally, candidates will be subject to a federal background check.
  3. A valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance are required.
