We are currently looking for qualified candidates for the role of Associate General Counsel at our corporate headquarters. This position is crucial in safeguarding the company’s interests and reputation by managing a wide range of legal and regulatory issues with global ramifications. Responsibilities encompass all aspects of litigation, claims, internal investigations, regulatory compliance, and global risk management and insurance. The role involves participation in the Company's Safety Committee, regular interaction with the Executive Committee, supervision of legal and non-legal staff, and support for various initiatives within the Law Department. This position offers a hybrid work model.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Management of Global Claims and Litigation:

  • Product Liability: Defend against various litigation and claims, including personal injury and property damage, while managing inquiries from state attorneys and consumer complaints.
  • Employment Matters: Oversee defense strategies for employment-related litigation and governmental investigations.
  • Intellectual Property: Handle disputes related to intellectual property, including patent infringement and trade secret issues.
  • Environmental Concerns: Manage litigation regarding environmental impacts from historical manufacturing operations.
  • Workers' Compensation: Collaborate with the workers' compensation carrier in defending claims.
  • Corporate and Commercial Litigation: Oversee litigation related to corporate and commercial disputes.

2. Regulatory Compliance Oversight:

  • Consumer Product Safety: Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manage agency investigations.
  • FDA Regulations: Oversee compliance with medical device and food safety regulations.
  • Environmental Regulations: Ensure adherence to environmental laws and manage remediation efforts.
  • Employment Agency Compliance: Address discrimination charges and ensure compliance with employment laws.
  • Additional Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to various federal and state regulations.

3. Preventative Legal Counseling:

  • Guide negotiations to achieve favorable resolutions.
  • Advise on product warranties and hazard communications.
  • Provide counsel on crisis management strategies.

4. Risk Management and Insurance Programs:

  • Oversee comprehensive risk management and insurance strategies, including various liability coverages.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited institution with a strong academic record.
  • Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years in litigation, regulatory, and risk management roles.
