Job Overview

The Nutritional Services Chef is integral to maintaining the dietary health of residents within our assisted living facility. This role encompasses the planning, preparation, and delivery of meals while adhering to established dietary standards and regulations. The Dietary Manager will report to the Director of Operations or Administrator, depending on the organizational framework of Wholehearted Care Holdings.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Certification in Food Handling
  • Prior experience in food service management, ideally within a healthcare or assisted living environment.
  • Understanding of nutritional principles, dietary guidelines, and specific dietary needs.
  • Strong leadership and communication abilities.
  • Capacity to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices.
  • Competence in computer software related to menu planning and inventory oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and execute menus that fulfill the nutritional requirements and preferences of residents, considering dietary restrictions and special needs.
  • Supervise the procurement, receipt, and storage of food and supplies, ensuring adherence to budgetary limits and quality benchmarks.
  • Maintain precise records of food production, inventory, and expenses, preparing reports as necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards and sanitation protocols, conducting routine inspections of kitchen and dining facilities.
  • Stay updated on advancements in nutrition and food service management, integrating best practices into daily operations.
  • Address resident feedback and concerns regarding meal quality and service, implementing corrective measures as required.
  • Engage in staff meetings, training sessions, and performance enhancement initiatives to improve the overall effectiveness of the dietary department.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to stand, walk, and navigate the kitchen and dining areas for prolonged periods.
  • Capability to lift and transport heavy items, such as grocery bags and kitchen equipment.
  • Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for food preparation tasks, including chopping, slicing, and stirring.
  • Adaptability to work in a dynamic environment with exposure to varying temperatures and humidity levels.
  • Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as necessitated by the needs of the assisted living community.
