Job Title: Vice President of Human Resources

Location: Pembroke, MA (on-site)

Position Overview:

The Vice President of Human Resources is tasked with the formulation, execution, and oversight of Human Resources policies, programs, and practices within Massachusetts Nonprofit Network. This role encompasses the management, assessment, and enhancement of recruitment and retention strategies; employee relations; compensation and benefits; staff training and development; and ensuring compliance with applicable labor laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Organizational Leadership and Management:

  • Lead and inspire the HR team to achieve high performance aligned with the organization's mission and vision.
  • Guide a team in developing and implementing multi-year strategic objectives and annual operational plans.
  • Mentor and coach direct reports, effectively delegating tasks and reviewing, amending, and approving policy changes as necessary. Stay informed on significant HR trends and legislative changes. Engage in initiatives to improve the HR function. Collaborate with legal advisors to address issues as needed.
  • Prepare and manage the departmental budget.
  • Collaborate with leadership to advocate for HR strategies, philosophies, and initiatives throughout the organization.
  • Encourage effective cross-departmental collaboration and results-driven outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement that prioritizes learning and quality commitment.
  • Act as a vital member of the Executive Team.

Recruitment & Retention:

  • Direct the Talent Acquisition efforts to attract and hire a skilled workforce while partnering with division leaders to promote teamwork.
  • Work with leadership and staff to create engagement and retention initiatives, utilizing employee feedback as a benchmark.
  • Design and implement comprehensive recruitment, selection, and retention systems. Coordinate staffing needs with department heads and conduct exit interviews to provide feedback to senior management.
  • Oversee compensation administration, including performance management and benefits. Collaborate with consultants on wage and salary administration, performance management, and benefits.
  • Ensure competitive compensation and benefits packages by collaborating with division leaders to prioritize employee welfare.

Employee Relations:

  • Provide guidance on employee relations matters and serve as a valuable resource for managers addressing workforce issues. Coach management and staff on handling workplace challenges, including compensation claims and harassment.
  • Represent the organization at unemployment and workers' compensation hearings. Manage inquiries regarding policy interpretation and application.
  • Ensure effective communication of policies, programs, and procedures to all staff members.

Staff Training & Development:

  • Oversee the design, development, and implementation of the new hire orientation program, ensuring alignment with organizational needs and regulatory standards.
  • Monitor and track all training activities, including annual training and new hire orientation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Management with a minimum of 7-10 years of progressive experience in a senior HR role.
  • Strong proficiency in technology systems and applications relevant to HR administration.
  • Demonstrated success in facilitating organizational change and a commitment to the mission of Massachusetts Nonprofit Network.
