Job Summary

The Clinical Technician provides direct patient care under the direction of a nurse and performs other tasks necessary for unit operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides direct patient care, including vital sign monitoring, wound care, and medication administration.
  • Assists with patient transfers, repositioning, and mobility.
  • Collects and labels specimens for laboratory testing.
  • Administers enemas, surgical preps, ice packs, and heat treatments as directed.
  • Provides post-mortem care and assists with the application of simple dressings.
  • Accurately performs glucometer finger sticks and POCT.
  • Assists clinicians or public safety with the application of restraints when necessary.
  • Transports patients to other areas of the hospital as needed.
  • Acts as a patient sitter or telemetry monitor technician when required.
Requirements
  • Minimum of High School diploma or GED required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Must satisfy one of the following:
    • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current State of Florida licensure.
    • RN Student with completed nursing fundamentals or caring scholar course and active enrollment in an RN Nursing program.
    • Graduate of an RN program pending authorization to test for the NCLEX or has not passed their first NCLEX and is awaiting second test.
    • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with current valid Florida Licensure and work experience required.
  • Basic computer knowledge: ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, input data.
