JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Technician plays a vital role in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff and executing essential tasks to ensure smooth unit operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Exhibits the capability to perform, assist, and deliver patient care effectively.
· Manages multiple patient care assignments based on unit needs and staffing levels.
· Receives updates from primary care partners and completes tasks in an organized and timely manner.
· Instructs and reinforces appropriate patient care activities under the guidance of licensed professionals.
· Responds promptly to patient requests and communicates with the appropriate caregiver when necessary.
· Demonstrates the ability to recognize and implement emergency procedures, including CPR when required.
· Maintains annual competency in patient-specific procedures.
· Accurately documents patient information in the electronic medical record.
· Reports significant patient changes and clinical findings to primary care partners.
· Collects, labels, and delivers specimens to the laboratory, adhering to Universal Precautions.
· Provides adjunct care, including administering enemas, surgical preparations, and heat treatments.
· Offers post-mortem care as needed.
· Assists in repositioning immobile patients using medical equipment.
· Monitors patients' food and fluid intake and output.
· Aids in applying simple dressings using aseptic techniques.
· Performs glucometer finger sticks and conducts point-of-care testing with quality control.
· Assists clinicians or public safety personnel with restraint application when necessary for patient care.
· Transports patients to various areas of the facility as required.
· Acts as a patient sitter for one-on-one observation when necessary.
· Functions as a telemetry monitor technician when required for patient care.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
· High School diploma or GED is required.
· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from an accredited organization.
· Must meet one of the following criteria:
o Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current State of Florida licensure.
o RN Student who has completed nursing fundamentals or a caring scholar course and is actively enrolled in an RN program, providing transcripts each semester.
o Graduate of an RN program awaiting authorization to test for the NCLEX or has not passed their first NCLEX and is awaiting a second attempt.
o Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with valid Florida licensure and relevant work experience.
· Basic computer skills are necessary, including the ability to operate a PC, create/save/print documents, and input data.
