POSITION SUMMARY
The Clinical Technician plays a vital role in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, while also supporting the operational needs of the unit.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform and assist in delivering patient care effectively.
- Manage multiple patient assignments based on unit needs and staffing levels.
- Receive and act on reports from primary care partners, ensuring timely completion of tasks.
- Instruct and support patients in care activities as directed by licensed professionals.
- Respond promptly to patient requests and communicate with caregivers as necessary.
- Recognize and execute emergency procedures, including CPR when required.
- Maintain annual competency in patient-specific procedures.
- Document patient information accurately in electronic medical records.
- Report significant patient changes and clinical observations to the primary care partner.
- Collect and manage specimens for laboratory analysis, adhering to safety protocols.
- Administer adjunct care, including enemas and heat treatments.
- Provide post-mortem care as needed.
- Assist in repositioning patients and monitoring their intake and output.
- Support the application of simple dressings using aseptic techniques.
- Perform glucometer tests and quality control checks accurately.
- Assist with patient transport and provide one-on-one observation when necessary.
- Act as a telemetry monitor technician when required.
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an accredited organization is mandatory.
- Must meet one of the following criteria:
- Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with valid Florida licensure.
- RN Student who has completed nursing fundamentals and is actively enrolled in an RN program.
- Graduate of an RN program awaiting authorization to take the NCLEX.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with current Florida licensure and relevant experience.
- Basic computer skills, including the ability to operate a PC and manage documents.
