JOB SUMMARY

The Clinical Technician plays a vital role in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of nursing staff, while also supporting the operational needs of the unit.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

– Additional responsibilities may be assigned.

· Exhibits the capability to perform, assist, and deliver patient care effectively.

· Manages multiple patient care assignments according to unit acuity and staffing levels.

· Receives reports from primary care partners and completes tasks in an organized and timely manner.

· Instructs and reinforces appropriate patient care activities under the guidance of licensed professionals.

· Responds promptly to patient requests and communicates with the appropriate caregiver when necessary.

· Demonstrates the ability to recognize and implement emergency measures, including CPR when required.

· Maintains annual competency in patient-specific procedures.

· Ensures timely and accurate documentation in the electronic medical record.

· Reports significant patient changes and clinical findings to primary care partners.

· Collects, labels, and delivers specimens to the laboratory, adhering to Universal Precautions.

· Provides adjunct care, including administering enemas, surgical preparations, ice packs, and heat treatments.

· Assists in post-mortem care.

· Aids in repositioning immobile patients using medical equipment.

· Monitors patient intake and output of food and fluids.

· Assists with the application of simple dressings, following aseptic techniques.

· Accurately performs glucometer finger sticks and point-of-care testing.

· Assists clinicians or public safety personnel with the application of restraints when necessary for patient care.

· Transports patients to various areas of the facility as needed.

· Acts as a patient sitter for one-on-one observation when required.

· Functions as a telemetry monitor technician when necessary for patient care.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

· High School diploma or GED is required.

· Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required from a recognized provider.

· Must meet one of the following criteria:

o Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) with current State of Florida licensure.

o RN Student who has completed nursing fundamentals or a caring scholar course and is actively enrolled in an RN Nursing program, providing transcripts each semester.

o Graduate of an RN program awaiting authorization to test for the NCLEX.

o Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) with valid Florida licensure and relevant work experience.

· Basic computer skills are necessary, including the ability to operate a PC, create, save, and print documents, and input data.
