Position Overview

Job Title: Early Childhood Educator

Location: YMCA of Greater Boston

Compensation: $21 - $31 per hour, based on experience

Role Summary:

Join our dedicated team of Early Childhood Educators at the YMCA of Greater Boston. We are in search of passionate and professional educators for our Child Development Programs throughout the Greater Boston area. The YMCA of Greater Boston is committed to providing exceptional family-focused care for infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and after-school programs. We are looking for EEC (Early Education and Care) certified educators to enhance the lives of the children we serve.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prioritize the safety and well-being of children, fostering a secure and nurturing environment.
  • Design and implement developmentally appropriate curricula that supports children's growth.
  • Provide tailored instruction to accommodate the diverse needs of children in the classroom.
  • Conduct assessments of children's progress and offer constructive feedback to parents and caregivers.
  • Serve as a positive role model, embodying the YMCA's core values for children, families, and staff.
  • Utilize effective behavior management techniques and ensure all staff adhere to these practices.
  • Supervise children to maintain safety and guide them through transitions smoothly.
  • Collaborate with co-teachers to create an engaging classroom environment, ensuring materials are organized and accessible.

Qualifications:

  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills, ensuring compliance with regulations for child safety and health.
  • Mission-driven, committed to fulfilling the YMCA's objectives and values.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with community partners, staff, families, and program participants.
  • A genuine passion for working with children, creating enriching educational experiences.
  • Must be at least 21 years old and possess EEC certification.
  • Willingness to obtain First Aid and CPR certification within the first six months of employment.
  • Complete Child Abuse Prevention Training, Bloodborne Pathogen Training, and Sexual Harassment Training within the first 60 days of employment.
