Role Summary

The Early Childhood Portfolio at EDC is seeking a Project Director to oversee a national training and technical assistance center dedicated to enhancing early childhood systems at the state and territory levels. This role is pivotal for individuals with extensive experience in early childhood education and state agency operations, aiming to strengthen the capabilities of early childhood professionals nationwide.

This position entails managing a significant early childhood training and technical assistance initiative, which includes supervising project staff, coordinating budgets, timelines, and work plans, as well as ensuring compliance with federal reporting requirements. The Project Director will engage with national stakeholders receiving services and collaborate with other capacity-building projects to optimize funding investments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure the technical and programmatic success of the project while maintaining financial viability, including overseeing daily operations, work plans, contracts, and compliance with technical requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with funders, colleagues, and partners to lead and manage technical assistance activities.
  • Set priorities, evaluate progress, and communicate any deviations from strategic plans.
  • Identify resource needs and negotiate allocations, achieving consensus on priorities amidst competing demands.
  • Provide expert technical support on early childhood system priorities.
  • Present project updates and outcomes in public forums and publications.
  • Drive business development initiatives to secure additional projects for EDC.
Qualifications

Education: A Master’s degree or an equivalent combination of training and experience in a relevant field, preferably in early childhood education.

Experience: 8-10 years of relevant experience in early childhood education and systems development, demonstrating strong leadership and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications: 3-5 years of experience in state agency roles managing complex projects with budget oversight and staff supervision, along with a background in fostering cross-sector collaboration for young children and their families.
