Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Financial Aid Counselor to join our team at Iona University. As a key member of our financial aid department, you will provide exceptional support to students and their families, ensuring a smooth and successful financial aid experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Student Support: Provide personalized guidance and support to students and their families, addressing financial aid eligibility, application procedures, and available financial aid programs.
  • Financial Aid Analysis: Analyze federal financial aid applications to determine student financial need, prepare and award financial aid packages, and ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, providing clear and concise information about financial aid options and requirements.
  • Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex financial aid issues, ensuring a fair and equitable experience for all students.
  • Record-Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, preparing and submitting reports as required by federal, state, and university regulations.
Requirements
  • Education: Associate's degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience: 1 year of experience in financial aid, student services, or a related field.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work effectively in a diverse environment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in financial aid software and systems.
