Role Responsibilities:
The Patient Registration Specialist will manage all aspects of patient registration, including:
- Handling incoming and outgoing calls via the PBX and beeper system.
- Guiding patients, families, sales representatives, clergy, and others to their appropriate destinations within the facility.
- Collecting and verifying patient demographic and insurance details during the registration process.


This role is essential in minimizing financial risks associated with service provision by evaluating the patient's financial situation, confirming all account information, securing necessary signatures on hospital and regulatory documents, and collecting applicable patient payments prior to service delivery.

Exceptional customer service skills are crucial in all interactions with patients, physician offices, and third-party payers.

Qualifications:
Education:
A High School Diploma or GED is required.

Experience:


A minimum of one year of experience with automated patient information systems is preferred, along with a solid understanding of the computerized admitting process. Candidates should possess accurate typing skills and familiarity with filing and bookkeeping to facilitate on-the-job training. A clear and pleasant telephone voice is essential.


Certification/Licensure:
No specific certifications or licenses are required.

Skills and Competencies:


Applicants should demonstrate proficiency in accurate typing, filing, and bookkeeping. The ability to multitask effectively is necessary, along with a friendly demeanor that fosters tactfulness, thoughtfulness, and congeniality when interacting with patients, families, physicians, and colleagues. A working knowledge of the PBX system is also beneficial.
