Senior Economist, Environment and Natural Resources

ICF Olson is seeking a highly experienced economist to enhance our growing Regulatory, Policy, and Economics division, specifically focusing on environmental and natural resource policies.

As a prominent global consulting firm with over $1 billion in revenue, we strive to improve the world through our extensive expertise, innovative solutions, and advanced technology.

In this role, you will collaborate with federal government clients on significant projects that address critical societal challenges. Your proficiency in regulatory economics, research methodologies, and objective analysis will guide policy decisions and enhance program effectiveness. You will also work closely with various business and technical leaders within ICF Olson to expand our regulatory policy offerings to both existing and prospective clients.

The ideal candidate will possess a comprehensive understanding of the regulatory landscape and the economic analyses required to support federal policy initiatives. Your background in policy analysis, economics, and research will contribute to impactful high-profile policy-making efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily project operations. Utilize your subject matter expertise to evaluate the implications, costs, and benefits of policies and regulations across various sectors, including health, labor markets, environment, and transportation.
  • Drive business development efforts. Contribute significantly to sales initiatives and proposal submissions for key client accounts. Participate in capture and bid processes, crafting compelling technical solutions for client needs.
  • Develop the team. Mentor junior staff, manage workloads, provide guidance, and ensure high-quality deliverables while maintaining high levels of employee engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in public policy, economics, or a related field, along with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, including:
  • Proven expertise in economic and regulatory analyses in one or more domestic US policy areas, such as environmental management and health.
  • Experience with programs or projects related to environmental and natural resource management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated leadership in project and team management.
  • Strong technical and financial project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication abilities, essential for client-facing roles.
  • Proven success in delivering policy solutions within a consulting environment or federal agency.
  • Familiarity with the federal government rulemaking process.
  • Experience with R or other programming languages for data analysis is preferred.
  • A positive, pragmatic, and collaborative approach, with the ability to inspire, train, and innovate in a complex, multicultural environment.

Compensation Range - The salary range for this position is: $87,000 - $148,932.00
