Job Overview

Away Staffing Services is seeking a skilled CNC Setup Operator to join our team. As a CNC Setup Operator, you will be responsible for setting up and operating computer numerical control (CNC) machines to produce high-quality parts and products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setup and Operation of CNC Machines
    • Performs layouts, sets up, and operates CNC machines as required.
    • Reviews blueprints, drawings, specifications, or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of part/product, sequence of operations, and/or setup requirements.
    • Reads and interprets all drawings, including geometric dimensioning and tolerance.
    • Measures, marks, and otherwise indicates the dimensions and reference points on the part or material to be used as guides for subsequent machining.
  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting
    • Selects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on machines including mills, lathes, and grinders.
    • Calculates and sets controls to regulate various machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cut.
    • Starts and observes machine operation to detect any malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts the machine controls as necessary.
  • Quality Control and Improvement
    • Verifies conformance of the finished part to ensure that it meets specifications.
    • Improves methods for higher quality and improved costs.
  • Collaboration and Support
    • Assists maintenance in diagnosis, repair, and preventative maintenance.
