Job Overview

Position: Packaging Maintenance Mechanic

Shift: 2nd Shift

Incentive: $2,500 Signing Bonus*

AFC Materials Group is on the lookout for a proficient Packaging Maintenance Mechanic to guarantee the seamless functionality of our packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will engage in the assembly, installation, testing, and upkeep of packaging equipment utilizing both hand and power tools. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conducts regular preventive maintenance assessments on all packaging machinery, including bagging and printing equipment.
  • Observes packaging machinery for optimal performance, making necessary adjustments and repairs to enhance machine efficiency.
  • Diagnoses and resolves all related packaging machinery issues promptly and accurately.
  • Interprets blueprints, sketches, schematic diagrams, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Identifies materials and supplies required for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Performs thorough cleaning of machines and components, disassembling and reassembling as needed.
  • Applies oil and lubrication to moving parts to ensure effective operation.
  • Completes all work orders to uphold safety standards; minimize downtime; reduce waste; enhance production quality and boost plant efficiency.
  • Documents and reports any damaged, worn, or broken components.
  • Maintains cleanliness, organization, inventory, and stocking of shop areas, tools, and supplies.
  • Coordinates with management to plan routine maintenance schedules for machinery.
  • Provides support for projects around the clock in case of emergencies.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED with relevant experience required
  • At least 3 years of maintenance experience required
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years in a packaging environment
  • Experience with automated equipment control
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance protocols
  • Proven strategic thinking abilities; capable of developing and implementing long-term strategies
  • Experience with significant repairs
  • Must be available for training on the first shift

*Signing Bonus is applicable for direct hires only; it excludes current employees, re-hires, or workers assigned/referred through a staffing agency. The signing bonus does not apply to seasonal workers or interns. Bonus is distributed as follows for employees working 34 or more hours per week: $500 after 30 days of employment, $1,000 after 90 days, $1,000 after 180 days; for employees working 28-33 hours per week: $375 after 30 days of employment, $750 after 90 days, $750 after 180 days; for employees working 20-27 hours per week: $250 after 30 days of employment, $500 after 90 days, $500 after 180 days; for employees working less than 20 hours per week: $125 after 30 days of employment, $250 after 90 days, $250 after 180 days. AFC reserves the right to modify or terminate this program at any time without notice.
