Position: Packaging Maintenance Mechanic

Shift: 2nd Shift

Incentive: $2,500 Signing Bonus*

AFC Materials Group is in search of a proficient Packaging Maintenance Mechanic dedicated to ensuring the seamless functionality of our packaging machinery. The ideal candidate will be tasked with the assembly, installation, testing, and upkeep of packaging systems utilizing both hand and power tools. Collaboration with team members to maintain equipment and enhance operational processes is essential. Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct routine preventive maintenance assessments on all packaging machinery, including bagging and printing equipment.
  • Oversee the performance of packaging systems, making necessary adjustments and repairs to enhance machine efficiency.
  • Diagnose and rectify issues related to packaging machinery with promptness and precision.
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, schematic diagrams, and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Identify required materials and supplies for maintenance and repair tasks.
  • Perform thorough cleaning of machines and components, disassembling and reassembling as needed.
  • Lubricate and oil moving parts to ensure optimal machine operation.
  • Complete all maintenance tasks with a focus on safety, minimizing downtime, reducing waste, enhancing production quality, and improving overall plant efficiency.
  • Document and report any damaged, worn, or malfunctioning parts.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of workshop areas, tools, and inventory.
  • Coordinate with management to plan regular maintenance schedules for machinery.
  • Provide support for emergency projects at any time.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED with relevant experience required
  • At least 3 years of maintenance experience required
  • Preferred: Minimum of 2 years in a packaging environment
  • Experience with automated equipment control
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance standards
  • Proven strategic thinking abilities; capable of developing and implementing long-term plans
  • Experience with significant repairs
  • Must be available for training on the first shift
