Job Summary:

As a key member of the Compass Group USA team, the Sous Chef will be responsible for the successful operation of the Culinary Department for a facility. This individual will assist in the supervision, preparation, and cooking of various food items, developing daily menu items and their preparation and garnishment. The Sous Chef may supervise hourly associates and work with the Executive Chef/Chef to develop new menus and assist with ordering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assists the Executive Chef with managing cost controls and controlling expenditures for the account.
  • Assists the Executive Chef with planning and creating menus that meet the needs of the facility and its guests.
  • Produces and executes catering events that exceed customer expectations.
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the Company's marketing and culinary team.
Requirements:
  • A.S. or equivalent experience in culinary arts or a related field.
  • Some progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, depending upon formal degree or training.
  • Catering experience is a plus.
  • High volume, complex foodservice operations experience is highly desirable.
  • Institutional and batch cooking experiences are helpful.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Must be experienced with computers, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook, email, and the Internet.
  • ServSafe certified is highly desirable.
