Position Overview: The Circulation Supervisor will be responsible for overseeing branch-level circulation operations, ensuring the efficient check-in and shelving of library materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage activities that support circulation functions at the branch level.
  • Supervise, train, and mentor non-classified staff and volunteers involved in circulation tasks.
  • Oversee collection management activities, including maintaining appealing collections through weeding, shifting, and displaying materials.
  • Act as a building supervisor and provide direct customer service and information services to patrons of all ages.

Salary: $55,348.80 annually

Benefits: Includes annual leave, sick leave, holidays, retirement system benefits, and optional health and life insurance plans.

Work Schedule: Full-time position with a flexible schedule that includes weekdays, evenings, and weekends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's in Library Science (MLIS) preferred.
  • Experience in public library settings with a focus on circulation and collection support.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Knowledge of literature across various genres and age groups.
  • Proficient in customer service and conflict resolution.
  • Experience with data entry and cash handling.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in various software and troubleshooting.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.

Physical Requirements: The role requires the ability to stand, sit, bend, and lift items weighing up to 40 pounds. Strong manual dexterity and the ability to communicate effectively in various situations are essential.
