About the Opportunity:

The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Arizona, in collaboration with Banner University Medical Group, is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible Hepatologist to enhance its academic faculty team. This role presents a remarkable opportunity for a Hepatologist with comprehensive training and experience in liver disease management to advance their career in an academic environment at either the assistant or associate level.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide transplant care for patients suffering from end-stage liver disease, focusing on all stages of pre and post-transplant management.
  • Manage a thriving Advanced Liver Disease practice.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, actively participating in selection committees, quality assurance initiatives, education, and research within this expanding program.

Academic Involvement:

This Transplant Hepatology position offers an excellent platform to further your career in academic medicine. Engage in the education and training of Internal Medicine/Gastroenterology residents, fellows, and medical students in a scholarly setting. Opportunities include:

  • Teaching and mentoring Internal Medicine/GI trainees.
  • Preparing and presenting at departmental and divisional meetings.
  • Participating in GI/Hepatology clinical research, including opportunities for presentations at national conferences and clinical research training through a Master's in Clinical Research pathway.

Qualifications:

  • Possession of an Arizona medical license (or eligibility to obtain one).
  • Board Certified/Board Eligible in Hepatology.
  • Completion of a GI and Transplant Hepatology Fellowship is required.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform Upper Endoscopy procedures.
  • Conduct Colonoscopy.
  • Execute Liver biopsies.
