The Opportunity
An exciting position has emerged for a Supplier Governance Process & Standards Specialist to contribute on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.

This role will assist the Supplier Governance Process & Standards Manager in formulating the supplier engagement and performance standards, establishing processes that position National Grid as a preferred partner for our suppliers.

As we lead the transition to a Net Zero future in the UK and Northeast USA, we acknowledge that decarbonizing our energy systems will involve addressing numerous challenges and fostering new collaborations, technologies, and transformative investments.

Over the next five years, we plan to invest significantly across our operations, nearly doubling our previous investments.

This is a transformative period for our industry, creating substantial opportunities for National Grid; it is a defining moment that will influence our success for years to come.

In light of these developments, our supply chains face unprecedented challenges and are integral to our strategic objectives, placing National Grid Procurement at the forefront of our Net Zero initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in National Grid's supplier segmentation strategy, focusing on the development, enhancement, and maintenance of processes and standards for strategic supplier engagement, vendor management, and contract oversight.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering and continuously refining a robust supplier segmentation framework based on factors such as expenditure and criticality.
  • Creating standards and processes for supplier engagement across all tiers of National Grid's supply chain, collaborating with various teams.
  • Supporting the formulation of comprehensive strategies for strategic suppliers, integrating insights from diverse teams.
  • Enhancing training programs related to the defined supplier standards process within the broader Procurement function.
  • Working with the procurement digital team to identify and implement technologies that drive ongoing improvements.
  • Facilitating 'Voice of the Supplier' surveys to gather insights and inform action plans aimed at enhancing National Grid's market perception.
  • Assisting in the development and upkeep of an effective supplier governance plan and reporting framework, ensuring appropriate controls and KPIs are in place.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Exceptional stakeholder and supplier management skills, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • A strong understanding of commercial models and techniques necessary for optimal supplier engagement.
  • Proven negotiation skills and a comprehensive understanding of contract law.
  • The ability to analyze KPIs and contract data with meticulous attention to detail.
  • A solid grasp of National Grid's broader business objectives and their implications for category management.
  • The capability to navigate ambiguity and make informed decisions based on incomplete information.
