The Opportunity
An exciting position has emerged for a Supplier Governance Process & Standards Specialist on a Full-Time, Permanent basis.
This role will assist the Supplier Governance Process & Standards Manager in formulating supplier engagement and performance standards, along with the associated processes that establish National Grid as a preferred partner for our suppliers.
As we lead the transition to a Net Zero future in the UK and Northeast USA, we understand that decarbonizing our electric and gas systems will involve addressing numerous challenges and forming new partnerships, technologies, and transformative investments.
Over the next five years, we will invest significantly across our UK and US operations, nearly doubling our previous investments.
This is a pivotal moment for our industry, presenting substantial opportunities for National Grid; it is not merely a phase but a transformative era that will influence our success for decades.
In light of this, our supply chains are encountering unprecedented challenges and are integral to our strategic plans, positioning National Grid Procurement at the heart of our Net Zero objectives.
Strategic Focus Areas
We have outlined an ambitious transformation plan aimed at becoming the preferred partner for our suppliers while ensuring exceptional outcomes for our Business Units (BUs).
Our strategy centers on significant changes in three core areas:
- Collaboration: We are strengthening our relationships with our supply chain, aligning closely with each National Grid Group Business Unit.
- Scale: We are harnessing the vast scale of our organization to unlock greater potential, leveraging our collective strength for remarkable achievements.
- Operational Innovation: We are transforming our teamwork approach, adopting new methodologies and technologies to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Your Responsibilities
You will play a vital role in National Grid's supplier segmentation strategy, developing, evolving, and maintaining processes and standards for strategic supplier engagement, vendor management, and contract oversight.
Your duties will include:
- Delivering and continuously refining a robust supplier segmentation framework based on factors such as spend and criticality.
- Establishing standards and processes for supplier engagement across all levels of National Grid's supply chain.
- Collaborating with teams focused on Strategic Supplier Engagement, Supply Chain Risk, and Performance.
- Supporting the creation of comprehensive strategies for strategic suppliers, integrating insights from various teams.
- Enhancing training programs related to supplier standards and the broader Procurement function.
- Working with the procurement digital team to identify and implement technologies that drive continuous improvement.
- Facilitating 'Voice of the Supplier' surveys to gather insights and inform action plans aimed at enhancing National Grid's market perception.
- Assisting in the development and maintenance of an effective supplier governance plan and reporting framework.
Qualifications
