The Role

An exciting opportunity exists for a Supplier Governance Process & Standards Specialist to take on a pivotal role within our organization.

This position will assist the Supplier Governance Process & Standards Manager in refining the standards for supplier engagement and performance, establishing how National Grid can become the preferred partner for our suppliers.

Our supply chains are currently navigating unprecedented challenges, making the Procurement function integral to our Net Zero objectives. We have outlined a transformative strategy focused on becoming the preferred client for our suppliers while ensuring exceptional outcomes for our business units. Our approach centers on three key areas:

  • Collaboration: Strengthening our relationships with suppliers to align closely with each business unit.
  • Scale: Utilizing our group's extensive reach to unlock greater potential and achieve remarkable results.
  • Operational Enhancement: Innovating our team dynamics by adopting new methodologies and technologies to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
Key Responsibilities

You will play a vital role in shaping National Grid's supplier segmentation strategy, developing and maintaining processes and standards for strategic supplier engagement, vendor management, and contract oversight.

  • Oversee the implementation and continuous refinement of a robust supplier segmentation strategy, adapting to evolving supplier dynamics.
  • Establish standards and processes for supplier engagement across all levels of the supply chain, collaborating with various teams.
  • Contribute to the formulation of comprehensive strategies for key suppliers, integrating insights from diverse teams.
  • Enhance training programs related to supplier standards across the broader Procurement function.
  • Collaborate with the digital procurement team to identify and implement technologies that foster continuous improvement.
  • Support initiatives to gather supplier feedback and insights, utilizing this information to enhance National Grid's market perception.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a supplier governance framework, ensuring appropriate controls and performance metrics are in place.
Qualifications
  • Exceptional skills in stakeholder and supplier management, with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • In-depth knowledge of commercial models and techniques essential for effective supplier engagement.
  • Strong negotiation capabilities, coupled with a solid understanding of contract law and procurement processes.
  • Proficient in analyzing KPIs and contract data, with a keen eye for detail to mitigate risks and manage performance.
