About the Role

Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Patient Intake Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a seamless registration process.

Responsibilities

  • Check-in and greet patients/family members, assessing their needs and directing them accordingly.
  • Enter new patient data into our computer system and update information as needed.
  • Schedule and pre-authorize appointments for imaging and laboratory studies.
  • Verify referral and co-pay information on our computer system.
  • Assist patients with completing paperwork to ensure accuracy.
  • Check-out patients, ensuring follow-up appointments, patient instructions, and patient records are settled.
  • May assist with insurance precertification and medical records, including evaluating chart data and obtaining and filing charts.
  • Maintain HIPAA standards throughout the patient intake and out-take process.
  • Collect co-pays and balance intake of monies received.
  • May provide clinical procedures and patient instructions as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the essential functions of the role.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills required.
  • Ability to type 35 WPM with minimal errors required.
  • Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
  • Prior clerical training, knowledge, and/or two years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
