About the Role
Hackensack Meridian Health is seeking a skilled Patient Intake Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our administrative staff, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and ensuring a seamless registration process.
Responsibilities
- Check-in and greet patients/family members, assessing their needs and directing them accordingly.
- Enter new patient data into our computer system and update information as needed.
- Schedule and pre-authorize appointments for imaging and laboratory studies.
- Verify referral and co-pay information on our computer system.
- Assist patients with completing paperwork to ensure accuracy.
- Check-out patients, ensuring follow-up appointments, patient instructions, and patient records are settled.
- May assist with insurance precertification and medical records, including evaluating chart data and obtaining and filing charts.
- Maintain HIPAA standards throughout the patient intake and out-take process.
- Collect co-pays and balance intake of monies received.
- May provide clinical procedures and patient instructions as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support the essential functions of the role.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent required.
- Excellent communication and organization skills required.
- Ability to type 35 WPM with minimal errors required.
- Must be able to maintain patient confidentiality.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
- Prior clerical training, knowledge, and/or two years of experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
