Food Service Program Manager

Position Overview: As a key contributor, you will be responsible for formulating food service strategies and establishing operational policies for Navy Ashore galleys, ensuring optimal support for military dining facilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in collaborative meetings and working groups with Department of Defense (DoD) and other Navy entities, focusing on food service operations, including the research and development of nutritional menus and food service equipment.
  • Conduct thorough site assessments of installation food service operations to evaluate compliance and operational efficiency across all Navy ashore galleys.
  • Provide expert advice and conduct both quantitative and qualitative analyses to subordinate commands regarding the effectiveness and efficiency of Navy ashore galleys.
  • Prepare and deliver briefings to keep leadership informed on all aspects of food service program changes, policy updates, and emerging trends.
  • Oversee the budgeting process and execution of funds allocated for the Galley Program.

Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be deemed suitable for federal employment.
  • Participation in the direct deposit pay program is mandatory.
  • New hires will need to successfully complete the E-Verify employment verification check.
  • Travel may be required to various locations, including remote or isolated sites.

Qualifications:

Your resume should demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or comparable experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include:

  • Management or development of a DoD Food Service Program.
  • Providing guidance to managers on DoD Food Service Program operations with recommendations for enhancements.
  • Managing budget and fund allocation for both appropriated and non-appropriated food service programs and projects.
  • Reviewing or advising on various types of Food Service contracts.

Additional Information: This position is part of the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program, and additional vacancies may be filled through this announcement. A tentative offer of employment may be rescinded if the selected candidate fails to meet pre-employment requirements.
