ORGANIZATION MISSION: Dreaming Out Loud Inc. is dedicated to fostering economic opportunities for marginalized communities in the DC metro area by establishing a fair and sustainable food system.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Food Hub, a key component of DOL's food distribution initiative, encompasses weekly farmers markets and grocery operations. The Food Service Support Specialist will collaborate with the Markets & CSA coordinator to facilitate the weekly markets, manage logistics for grocery operations, and contribute to related programming. We seek an individual who is passionate about our mission, enjoys community interaction, and possesses strong organizational skills to manage logistical tasks efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor packing deadlines to ensure timely completion of all tasks while addressing contingencies.
  • Pack and fulfill weekly orders in compliance with standard operating procedures and food safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and supply records.
  • Assist in outreach and marketing initiatives for the grocery operations.
  • Oversee quality control, portioning, and packing of products.
  • Ensure the quality of all items delivered to customers.
  • Track order timeliness and suggest improvements to enhance customer service.
  • Process payment transactions accurately using the POS system.
  • Prepare and distribute weekly market communications in alignment with brand standards.
  • Support market operations, including setup, customer service, and breakdown.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Commitment to social justice and organizational mission.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience in food service or customer relations.
  • Ability to engage effectively with diverse individuals, including farmers and community members.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service abilities.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on open communication.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with problem-solving skills.
  • COVID vaccination required prior to onboarding.
  • Self-motivated with strong time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and relevant communication tools.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Physical capability to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean record.

COMPENSATION: Competitive hourly wage based on experience, along with benefits including health insurance and allowances for communication and travel.
