Position Summary
The Senior Quality Engineer is tasked with identifying, addressing, and eliminating quality issues in spacecraft and product manufacturing. You will serve as a crucial collaborator with both design and production teams, elevating the reliability of both the teams and the hardware. This role also involves initiating corrective actions in partnership with our manufacturing and engineering teams.
This position's internal job code is Quality Engineer. Our team is currently hiring for levels 3-5.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and assess inspection and testing plans, acceptance criteria, and procedural instructions
- Work alongside internal teams to enhance processes and tackle significant and recurring non-conformances
- Proactively devise quality initiative strategies and oversee their execution
- Support continuous improvement efforts on the production floor, applying lean principles to eliminate unnecessary processes
- Evaluate the performance of products and processes during production ramp-up using various quality and analytical methods
- Facilitate root cause analysis and resolution of issues
- Participate in product development reviews as needed, ensuring that quality requirements are communicated and met
- Provide recommendations to company leadership regarding process improvements in assigned programs or product areas
- Travel as necessary to manage issues with customers and suppliers
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field with 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing or quality engineering role, or 8+ years of relevant work experience
- Familiarity with mechanical and avionics product manufacturing, assembly, testing, and inspection processes
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and provide technical input for assembly and testing procedures
- Understanding of root cause analysis and corrective action techniques
- Intermediate knowledge of AS9100 quality standards
- Working knowledge of process auditing techniques to ensure adherence to defined quality standards
- Experience in performing and applying statistical analysis techniques
- This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance, which necessitates U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Top Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in an engineering discipline
- Working knowledge of quality and manufacturing processes in a high-volume environment
- Familiarity with J-STD-001/IPC-A-610 standards
- Proven ability to collaboratively provide technical solutions to challenges without compromising quality or safety
- Current TS/SCI clearance
Compensation Overview
The salary information provided below is a general guideline reflecting what is reasonably expected for this position. Salaries are determined based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Level 3: $94,350 - $138,750
- Level 4: $116,450 - $171,250
- Level 5: $144,500 - $212,500
