Position Summary
The Senior Quality Inspector is tasked with identifying, addressing, and eliminating quality concerns related to spacecraft and products during the manufacturing process. This role may require flexibility to work either the first or second shift based on operational demands.
This position's internal job code is Quality Inspector Sr. Our team is currently hiring for Grade 24.
Key Responsibilities
- Initiate corrective measures in collaboration with Manufacturing, ATLO, and Engineering teams.
- Maintain systems to ensure the quality and traceability of incoming materials and finished products.
- Collaborate closely with Design and Manufacturing Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, Procurement, and Shipping personnel on procedural matters related to design, methods, tooling, costs, and other aspects affecting product quality.
- Conduct audits and daily evaluations of all manufacturing processes to confirm that assembly and testing operations comply with approved specifications and standards.
- Document discrepancies as they arise during manufacturing and testing operations.
- Independently perform verifications and record results in a clear, precise, and comprehensive manner.
- Travel may be required to support operations dictated by the program being supported.
- Assist in other inspection areas as designated by Millennium Space Systems Leadership based on business needs.
- Develop, implement, and audit inspection and testing plans, acceptance criteria, and in-process work instructions.
- Facilitate root cause analysis and resolution with manufacturing/production area discrepancy reports.
- Participate in conducting annual audits and system surveys.
- Provide recommendations to company leadership regarding process improvements in assigned programs or product areas.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using and interfacing with MES systems (JIRA, Costpoint, etc.).
Minimum Qualifications
- 5 years of experience as a Quality Inspector in aerospace, military, or a comparable high-reliability field.
- Experience with measurement tools (scales, micrometers, calipers, digital multimeters, etc.).
- Advanced understanding of AS9100 quality standards.
- In-depth knowledge of product manufacturing, assembly, testing, and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with process auditing techniques to ensure adherence to defined quality requirements.
- Experience in inspecting aerospace components to ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and industry regulations.
- Participation in TRS (test readiness scrum) component environmental test meetings.
- Ability to interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, harness wiring diagrams, and both internal and external specifications.
- Capability to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to convey aerospace hardware and systems issues to technical professionals for resolution.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic, innovative mindset, attention to detail, initiative, and a collaborative spirit.
- Applicants must pass a practical exam.
- This position will require the ability to apply for a TS/SCI U.S. Security Clearance.
Preferred Qualifications
- 5-8 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role.
- Experience with avionics and electrical systems.
- Experience inspecting solder, crimping, conformal coating, staking, and surface-mounted devices in accordance with NASA 8739 and/or IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-A-610 standards.
- Wire harness inspection experience in accordance with NASA-STD-8739 and/or IPC-A-620 standards.
- Experience with propulsion assembly inspections.
- Experience with assembly tooling and/or composites fabrication and structural assembly inspections.
- Demonstrated ability to train other quality inspectors on processes and inspection methods.
- Experience in Non-conformance reporting.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical data and quality procedures.
Compensation Overview
Please note that the salary information provided below is a general guideline of what is reasonably expected for this position. Salaries are determined based on candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
- Grade 24: $27.93/hr - $44.71/hr
