Position Summary:

The Financial Accountant will play a crucial role within the Accounting Department, contributing to essential financial reporting tasks, cash management, and audit preparation. Responsibilities include processing fuel transactions and meter readings, as well as assisting in the annual audit by preparing various audit documentation. The successful candidate will be adept at addressing inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring a high standard of customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Execute daily and monthly cash application and reconciliation tasks.
  • Identify overdue accounts and communicate with customers, maintaining accurate records in the tracking system.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial reports.
  • Compile and file monthly sales and use tax documentation.
  • Ensure meticulous maintenance of files and documentation in line with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Process monthly fuel and meter reading transactions.
  • Establish new equipment purchases in the financial management system.
  • Assist in maintaining the company’s equipment inventory and fixed asset records.
  • Provide backup support for various accounting roles as needed.
  • Collaborate on special projects as directed by management.
  • Engage with the CFO, Shop Manager, Logistics & Equipment Manager, Sales, and Vendors as necessary.
  • Prepare additional documentation for the annual audit.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience:
  • Preferred minimum of two (2) years of professional accounting experience, particularly in construction or manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in computer applications is essential.
Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED is mandatory.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field is preferred; alternatively, five (5) or more years of relevant work experience in cost or financial accounting.
Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience that provide the necessary knowledge and skills will be considered.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, and 10-key calculator.
  • Strong accounting and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
  • Skilled in processing high volumes of invoices accurately.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Demonstrated dependability, organizational skills, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proactive with a strong sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Customer service-oriented with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Capable of maintaining productivity in a dynamic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • A true team player.
Work Environment:
  • Office-based role with interaction with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Primarily desk work with fluctuating hours based on seasonal demands and accounting cycles.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
