Position Summary

The Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in overseeing the quality assurance of products and processes at Silfab Solar. This position involves monitoring and ensuring compliance with the established quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement processes and testing protocols that guarantee solar modules and associated processes meet quality benchmarks, safety standards, and client requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to create quality controls and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
  • Analyze variations in defective products and raw materials that do not meet specifications during production; conduct statistical evaluations and define corrective measures; lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
  • Utilize comprehensive analysis to propose enhancements to quality controls and SWIs to minimize waste and optimize product performance.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to Quality Technicians, Lead Hands, and Production Operators regarding SWIs, quality, and process challenges.
  • Generate statistical analyses and reports concerning the quality of raw materials and finished products.
  • Monitor production processes and recommend improvements to the Leadership Team; implement approved enhancements.
  • Develop, execute, analyze, and refine manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare and manage PPAP submissions and approvals for customers and suppliers.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead Control Plans, PFMEAs, and related inspection and testing activities.
  • Maintain continuous defect-prevention initiatives through FMEA reviews.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Conduct process, system, and dimensional audits.
  • Perform dimensional layouts and Measurement System Analysis (MSA) studies for both new and existing programs.
  • Oversee new product launches, ensuring all quality-related documentation is in place.
  • Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) and coordinate with suppliers and customers as necessary.
  • Review supplier SCARs and 8D reports; enhance supplier quality training and collaborate on action plans.
  • Assess RMA Claims for accuracy and manage the RMA program internally.
  • Work with the Leadership Team to produce and maintain all documentation required for the Quality manual in accordance with ISO standards.
  • Assist the Quality Manager in various tasks.
  • Uphold and promote the company's ethical standards and operational values.
  • Actively drive continuous improvement and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ensure and enhance the quality standards of the final products.
  • Contribute to minimizing production downtime and product defects through proactive measures.
  • Foster motivation and teamwork among all operational staff.
Qualifications

  • Familiarity with all PV-related certifications, including but not limited to UL1703, IEC 61215, IEC 61730-1.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing/JIT, Six Sigma methodologies, and Total Quality principles.
  • Knowledge of SPC and FMEA.
  • Proficient in interpreting Blueprint/GD&T drawings.
  • Highly skilled in Excel and advanced data analysis tools such as IMP, Minitab, etc.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including leadership, teamwork, and the ability to act as a change agent.
  • Capability to work independently and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Practical experience with statistical software applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Access.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a quality role, with the possibility of substituting experience for education.
  • Preferred: At least three years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a high-volume, high-tech manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred: Experience in module manufacturing.
  • Preferred: Certified Quality Engineer accreditation.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with SharePoint, MRP, and/or ERP systems.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual salary range: $80,000 - $105,000.
  • Eligibility for an annual bonus of up to 10% of salary.
