Position Summary

The Quality Engineer plays a crucial role in overseeing the quality assurance of products and processes at Silfab Solar. This position is tasked with ensuring compliance with established quality management systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement processes, testing protocols, and systems that guarantee solar modules and associated processes meet quality benchmarks, adhere to safety standards, and satisfy client requirements.
  • Collaborate with management to create quality controls and Standard Work Instructions (SWIs).
  • Analyze scrap product variations and out-of-spec raw materials throughout the production process; conduct statistical evaluations and determine corrective measures; lead root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives.
  • Utilize comprehensive analysis to propose enhancements to quality controls and SWIs aimed at reducing scrap and optimizing the final product's performance.
  • Provide ongoing support and training to Quality Technicians, Lead Hands, and Production Operators regarding SWIs, quality, and process challenges.
  • Generate statistical analyses and reports concerning the quality of raw materials and finished products.
  • Advise the Leadership Team on potential improvements to production recipes across various process stages; implement approved enhancements.
  • Develop, execute, analyze, and refine manufacturing processes.
  • Prepare and manage PPAP submissions and approvals for customers and suppliers.
  • Conduct root-cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead the development of Control Plans, PFMEAs, and related inspection and testing activities.
  • Maintain ongoing defect prevention initiatives through FMEA reviews.
  • Participate in internal and external design reviews.
  • Conduct process, system, and dimensional audits.
  • Perform dimensional layouts and MSA studies for both new and existing programs.
  • Oversee quality-related documentation for new product launches.
  • Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC) and collaborate with suppliers and customers as necessary, including site visits.
  • Review supplier SCARs and 8Ds; enhance supplier quality training and action plans.
  • Evaluate RMA Claims for accuracy and manage the in-house RMA program.
  • Work with the Leadership Team to produce and maintain all documentation required for the Quality manual in compliance with ISO standards.
  • Support the Quality Manager in various initiatives.
  • Uphold and promote the company's ethical standards and operational values.
  • Drive continuous improvement and corrective/preventive action initiatives.
  • Ensure and enhance the quality standards of the final product.
  • Contribute to minimizing production downtime and product defects through proactive measures.
  • Foster motivation and teamwork among all operational staff.
Qualifications
  • Proficient in cross-functional collaboration.

  • Robust project management capabilities.
  • Familiarity with all PV-related certifications, including but not limited to UL1703, IEC 61215, IEC 61730-1.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing/JIT, Six Sigma methodologies, and Total Quality principles.
  • Knowledge of SPC/FMEA.
  • Ability to interpret Blueprint/GD&T drawings.
  • Highly skilled in Excel and advanced data analysis tools such as IMP, Minitab, etc.

  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including leadership, teamwork, and change management.
  • Ability to work autonomously and achieve objectives with minimal supervision.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Practical experience with statistical software applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Access.
  • At least one year of experience in a quality role; experience may substitute for education.
  • A minimum of three years of experience as a Quality Engineer in a high-volume, high-tech manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Experience in module manufacturing is preferred.
  • Certification as a Quality Engineer is preferred.
  • Familiarity with SharePoint, MRP, and/or ERP systems is preferred.
Compensation and Benefits
  • Annual salary range of $80,000 - $105,000.
  • Eligibility for an annual bonus of up to 10% of salary.
