About the Role

Gandara Mental Health Center is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Masters Level Clinician to join our team as a Family Support and Stabilization Specialist. In this critical role, you will provide essential services to families involved with the Department of Children and Families (DCF) to strengthen parenting capacity, improve family dynamics, and ensure child safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality services to families in accordance with the Family Support and Stabilization (FSS) models, including Comprehensive and Family Stabilization.
  • Work collaboratively with parents/caregivers to achieve goals established by DCF in the referral.
  • Conduct assessments to determine strengths and needs, and establish long-term services.
  • Develop person-centered treatment plans in collaboration with clients, parents/caregivers, and other providers.
  • Review and modify treatment plans as necessary, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Provide or arrange transportation for clients to appointments, crisis/respite services, and community agencies as needed.
  • Develop and review risk management/safety plans in collaboration with clients and parents/caregivers.
  • Work on child safety and welfare issues, connecting families with community resources, school advocacy, law enforcement, and legal matters.
  • Identify community resources and develop natural supports for clients and parents/caregivers to achieve treatment plan goals.
  • Provide or secure support and crisis/emergency services for clients and family members through face-to-face contact, phone contact, or emergency on-call systems.
  • Assist clients and parents/caregivers in establishing and maintaining collaboration with other necessary individuals, such as case managers, probation officers, judges, attorneys, teachers, and physicians.
  • Report emergencies or critical incidents related to clients and parents/caregivers to direct supervisors or designees.
  • Provide additional visits and wraparound services to support clients and parents/caregivers in emergency situations, including evening and weekend availability.
  • Engage in ongoing collaboration with mental health providers, DCF social workers, schools, law enforcement, and other community providers.
  • Participate in DCF meetings to discuss ongoing concerns, challenges, and recommendations, as well as utilization reviews as required.
  • Maintain detailed records of work with families, including progress notes and collateral contact notes.
  • Maintain regular communication with the DCF team by providing weekly updates on engagement and progress in treatment.
  • Assist in providing information on topics such as discipline, scheduling, and stressors unique to the Hispanic/Latino, Cape Verdean, and Portuguese populations, including the acculturation process.
  • Assist parents/caregivers in improving parenting skills and reducing behaviors that adversely affect child safety in the home.
Requirements
  • Possess a master's degree in a human service field, such as Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health Counseling, Family Therapy, or related fields, from an accredited college/university.
  • Have training in family therapy and experience working with youth and families.
  • Have experience navigating child/family-serving systems and advocating for family members involved in the behavioral health system.
  • Demonstrate ability to be innovative, creative, analytical, and decisive in problem-solving.
  • Demonstrate strong communication, administrative, and organizational skills.
  • Have the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and community agencies.
  • Understand and be willing to be part of a program that supports youth and families 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
  • Have an active driver's license and availability of a motor vehicle to support program needs.
  • Preference for bilingual and bicultural candidates, with a strong emphasis on English/Spanish, and English/Portuguese and Cape Verdean as a plus, with language needs varying by office location.
