Position Overview

The Engineering Supervisor at Stryten Energy plays a crucial role in managing and enhancing the production processes at one of North America's leading battery manufacturing facilities. This position involves overseeing a dedicated team of engineers and ensuring the seamless operation of battery production, which supports various industries including automotive, marine, and industrial applications.

The Engineering Supervisor is tasked with planning, designing, and supervising engineering projects while also managing financial aspects and guiding the on-site engineering personnel. This role is essential for defining, maintaining, and optimizing the manufacturing processes to deliver high-quality and cost-efficient products. The supervisor will spearhead process innovations and improvements to ensure operational excellence.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction in alignment with company policies and enforce safety standards.
  • Promote a culture of safety with a focus on zero injuries.
  • Identify training needs and foster talent development within the engineering team.
  • Deliver clear instructions and feedback to team members to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Oversee all engineering activities, including cost analysis and evaluation of quotations.
  • Guide the team in defining project scopes and objectives.
  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance throughput and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Establish a cohesive team dynamic to achieve project goals effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to project management systems for timely and budget-compliant project completion.
  • Engage with vendors and contractors to guarantee successful project execution.
  • Manage engineering changes and oversee their implementation from initial quote to production approval.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of ongoing engineering projects.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for efficiency, workforce utilization, and workspace optimization.
  • Work closely with plant personnel to implement operational procedures and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering to align product specifications with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Recommend improvements in operational methods, material handling, and equipment layout to enhance safety and performance.
  • Supervise capital project installations to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Develop work measurement programs and analyze work samples to establish labor standards.
  • Engage in project planning for improvement initiatives and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Adhere to current Quality Systems requirements and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an engineering management role or similar capacity.
  • Six Sigma Certification is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, and walking as needed.
  • Strong analytical skills for problem-solving and information evaluation.
  • Effective communication skills for managing staff and collaborating with other management levels.
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy to prevent significant issues.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple budgets, employees, and schedules concurrently.

Equipment Proficiency:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
  • Experience with CAD systems is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel as needed based on business requirements.
