Position Overview

The Engineering Manager at Stryten Energy plays a pivotal role in our operations, overseeing a significant manufacturing facility dedicated to lead-acid battery production. This facility is renowned for its capacity to produce a vast number of batteries daily, serving various industries including automotive, marine, and gardening.

The Engineering Manager is tasked with the strategic planning, design, and supervision of engineering projects, while also managing financial aspects and leading the on-site engineering team. This role is crucial for defining, maintaining, and enhancing battery manufacturing processes, ensuring that our products meet the highest standards of quality and cost-effectiveness. The Engineering Manager will spearhead process innovations and improvements, facilitating the integration of material processing equipment to create a safe and efficient manufacturing environment.


Key Responsibilities
  • Guide the engineering team in adherence to company policies and safety regulations.
  • Foster a culture of safety with a focus on zero injuries.
  • Identify training needs and promote talent development within the engineering team.
  • Deliver clear and effective instructions to team members.
  • Review and verify the technical accuracy of the engineering team's outputs.
  • Oversee all engineering activities, including cost analysis and evaluation of quotations.
  • Lead the team in defining project scopes and objectives.
  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance throughput and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Build a cohesive team to achieve project goals.
  • Ensure compliance with project management systems to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for successful project completion.
  • Manage engineering changes and ensure effective implementation from initial quote to production.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of all engineering projects.
  • Assess manufacturing processes for efficiency, workforce utilization, and workspace layout.
  • Work alongside plant personnel to establish operating procedures and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering to align product specifications with capabilities.
  • Advise on operational methods and process changes to enhance safety, quality, and cost efficiency.
  • Supervise capital project installations to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Develop work measurement programs and analyze samples to set labor standards.
  • Plan projects for improvement opportunities and support initiatives to drive positive results.
  • Adhere to current Quality Systems requirements.
  • Implement Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in a managerial engineering role is required.
  • Six Sigma Certification is preferred.

Requirements:

  • Ability to perform various physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, and walking.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating complex information and solving problems.
  • Effective communication skills for managing staff and collaborating with other management levels.
  • Detail-oriented mindset to identify minor errors that could lead to significant issues.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple budgets, employees, and schedules simultaneously.

Equipment Proficiency:

  • Excellent computer skills are essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and project management tools.
  • Experience with CAD systems is preferred.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel will be based on business needs.
