Position Overview

The Engineering Manager at Stryten Energy plays a pivotal role in overseeing the operations of one of North America's leading battery manufacturing facilities. This position involves a comprehensive approach to project management, financial oversight, and team leadership within the engineering department. The Engineering Manager is tasked with defining and enhancing battery production processes, ensuring the delivery of high-quality and cost-efficient products.

The individual in this role will spearhead process innovations and improvements, coordinating the integration of material processing equipment to foster a safe and efficient manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include supervising daily operations within the engineering team, guiding project scopes, and supporting the development of departmental budgets while maintaining strict control over expenditures.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic direction in alignment with company policies and enforce safety regulations.
  • Foster a culture of safety with a focus on zero-injury initiatives.
  • Identify training needs and promote talent development within the engineering team.
  • Deliver clear instructions and feedback to team members to ensure technical accuracy.
  • Oversee all engineering activities, including cost analysis and quotation evaluations.
  • Lead the team in defining project scopes and objectives.
  • Collaborate with production teams to enhance throughput and ergonomics while ensuring a safe work environment.
  • Establish a cohesive team dynamic to achieve project goals effectively.
  • Ensure adherence to project management protocols to meet deadlines and budget constraints.
  • Engage with vendors and contractors to guarantee successful project completion.
  • Manage engineering changes and oversee their implementation from initial quote to production approval.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of ongoing engineering projects.
  • Evaluate manufacturing processes for efficiency, workforce utilization, and optimal workspace layout.
  • Work closely with plant personnel to implement operational procedures and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Collaborate with corporate engineering to align product specifications with equipment capabilities.
  • Recommend operational improvements to enhance safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Oversee capital project installations to ensure compliance with specifications.
  • Develop work measurement programs and analyze performance metrics.
  • Engage in project planning for continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Adhere to current Quality Systems requirements and Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering is preferred.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in an Engineering Manager role or a similar capacity.
  • Six Sigma Certification is preferred.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to perform physical tasks such as sitting, standing, bending, and walking as required.
  • Strong analytical skills for evaluating complex information and problem-solving.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with staff and management.
  • Detail-oriented mindset to identify and rectify potential issues.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple budgets, employees, and schedules efficiently.

Technical Proficiency:

  • Proficient in computer applications, particularly Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and project management tools.
  • Experience with CAD systems is advantageous.

Travel Requirements:

  • Travel may be required based on business needs.
