Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Finance Cashier Supervisor to join our team at the City of Hermosa Beach Isai. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for supervising and coordinating the work of staff responsible for performing sub-professional financial, statistical, accounting, clerical, cashiering, customer service, and general record keeping duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and coordinate the work of staff responsible for performing sub-professional financial, statistical, accounting, clerical, cashiering, customer service, and general record keeping duties;
  • Review and analyze data in software applications to ensure accuracy and compliance with procedures and applicable laws;
  • Ensure work quality and adherence to established policies and procedures;
  • Coordinate assigned activities with other divisions, outside agencies, and the general public;
  • Perform the more technical and complex tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Knowledge of operational characteristics, services, and activities of a cashier office;
  • Office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and applicable software applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases;
  • Principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation;
  • Mathematical principles;
  • Customer service techniques, practices, and principles;
  • Principles and procedures of financial record keeping.
Requirements

You will need to possess:

  • A combination of training and experience which would provide the required knowledge and abilities;
  • Typically, an educational equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a degree in public administration, business administration, accounting or a related field and three years of increasingly responsible experience in government or a comparable business or non-profit organization;
  • One year of supervisory experience;
  • Experience with cashiering and customer service is desirable.
Working Environment

This role will be based in a standard office environment with extensive public contact and constant interruptions. You will need to be able to work in an office setting, stand or sit for prolonged periods of time, and occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist. You will also need to be able to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight, operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination, and verbally communicate to exchange information.
