Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Finance Specialist to join our team at Jackson North Medical Center - ED Registration. As a key member of our financial services team, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate patient registration, verifying insurance coverage, and managing patient financial information.

Responsibilities
  • Interview patients and/or family members to obtain necessary account information and verify insurance coverage
  • Search the Master Patient Index (MPI) to assign the correct medical record number and notify supervisors of any discrepancies
  • Verify insurance coverage and obtain pre-certification/authorization for services as needed
  • Assign insurance plans accurately and calculate patient liable amounts
  • Explain policies regarding services rendered and collect patient payments in accordance with JHS collections policy and procedure
  • Secure required signatures for treatments, release of medical information, and assignment of insurance benefits
  • Process patient charts according to paperwork flow needs and established productivity standards
  • Produce paperwork for distribution to appropriate departments and align pertinent documents for establishing patient medical records and financial files
Requirements
  • 0-3 years of related experience
  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree in a related field strongly preferred
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of job-appropriate technology and software applications
Working Conditions

This role requires sitting for extended periods, frequent standing or walking, and occasional lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 20 pounds. The job function is sedentary in nature and requires close visual acuity to perform activities such as extended use of computers and preparing and analyzing data and analytics.
