Overview

Benderson Development Company is in search of a skilled Construction Estimator to enhance our operations. The successful candidate will possess experience in commercial cost estimation for both civil and vertical construction projects. This role is responsible for evaluating both new builds and renovations, providing comprehensive cost assessments for construction initiatives. Collaboration with various internal teams and the development of a robust subcontractor network will be essential components of this position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare precise and detailed cost estimates for all facets of proposed projects, including quantity takeoffs, comprehensive cost evaluations, line item breakdowns, and subcontractor summaries categorized by division.
  • Collaborate with different internal departments while continuously expanding the base of subcontractors available to the organization.
  • Generate timely and accurate project budgets by utilizing historical data, unit pricing, subcontractor/vendor proposals, and methodologies as outlined by management.
  • Acquire, distribute, and oversee plans or specifications as directed by supervisory personnel for proposed projects.
  • Review the compiled budget with supervisory staff to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Maintain up-to-date unit pricing within estimating software and templates.
  • Adjust unit prices in the system in response to market fluctuations.
  • Assess existing conditions of vacancies and integrate any discovered conditions into budget and estimates.

Required Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent combinations of technical training and relevant experience are preferred.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial estimating is required, ideally with a general contractor or developer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative team player who is self-motivated and maintains positive relationships with colleagues at all levels.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail under time constraints.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
