Key ResponsibilitiesThe Carpenter plays a vital role in supporting the Superintendent to ensure the efficient execution of construction projects while adhering to budgetary, quality, timeline, and safety standards. This position requires a skilled individual who possesses more expertise than a laborer but is not yet at the level of a lead carpenter.
Primary Duties- Assist the Superintendent with various tasks throughout the construction phase, including mobilization, errands, and demobilization.
- Support the punch-list and project close-out process, ensuring owner and architect acceptance.
- Maintain the main office facility and handle routine maintenance and cleaning as needed.
- Conduct periodic power-washing of the building and surrounding areas.
- Assist office personnel during company-sponsored events.
- Understand and align with the owner's construction goals.
- Foster positive relationships with owners and architects throughout the project lifecycle.
- Maintain strong connections with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Ensure all job safety requirements are communicated and followed by project personnel and trade contractors, striving for Zero Incidents.
- Participate in all on-site safety meetings.
- Review safety programs and MSDS information during trade contractor start-up meetings.
- Identify and rectify safety hazards on-site, reporting any incidents to the Project Manager.
- Obtain OSHA 30 certification within four months of hire (training provided).
- Attend quarterly safety meetings.
- Assist in coordinating the procurement, delivery, storage, and utilization of materials and tools.
- Support the punch-list process and close-out procedures as directed by the Superintendent.
- Order and procure miscellaneous materials required for projects in coordination with the Superintendent.
- Maintain knowledge of commercial construction practices, procedures, tools, and safety standards.
- Build and maintain good working relationships with all subcontractors involved in the project.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two to five years of experience in commercial construction.
- Ability to perform under pressure and meet deadlines.
- Proficient command of the English language.
- Physical ability to work with tools, lift heavy materials, and navigate construction sites.
- Specific carpentry skills, including rough and finish carpentry, concrete work, door installation, painting, drywall repair, and basic electrical, mechanical, and plumbing tasks.
- Majority of work will be conducted outdoors on active construction sites.
- Driving may be required; job-related mileage will be reimbursed.
- Compliance with safety equipment regulations is mandatory.
- Possession of personal tools is required.
- A reliable vehicle and valid driver's license with a clean record are necessary.
- Ability to pass a drug test and background check is essential.
