Overview

Benderson Development Company is looking for a skilled Construction Estimator to enhance our estimating team. The successful candidate will possess extensive experience in commercial project estimation, including both civil and vertical construction. This role involves assessing costs for new builds and renovations, ensuring accurate financial projections for various construction initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare comprehensive cost estimates for all facets of proposed projects, including quantity takeoffs, detailed cost breakdowns, and summaries of subcontractor bids organized by division.
  • Collaborate with different internal departments to foster relationships with subcontractors and enhance our estimating capabilities.
  • Develop precise project budgets using historical data, unit pricing, and vendor proposals, as discussed with management.
  • Manage the distribution and oversight of plans or specifications as directed for upcoming projects.
  • Review and discuss the summarized budget with supervisory personnel.
  • Maintain and update unit pricing in estimating software and templates to reflect current market conditions.
  • Adjust unit prices in the system as market fluctuations occur.
  • Assess existing conditions of properties and incorporate findings into budget estimates.

Required Qualifications

  • A four-year degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent technical training and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in commercial estimating, ideally with a general contractor or developer.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A collaborative team player who is self-motivated and able to interact effectively with colleagues at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects with precision.
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills.
