Position Title: Medical Assistant and Reception Coordinator

Department: Clinical Operations

Reports To: Operations Supervisor

Position Summary:

The Medical Assistant and Reception Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring patients receive high-quality care by facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers. This position is responsible for various administrative and clinical tasks that support patient care, including managing patient information, scheduling appointments, and assisting with clinical procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the healthcare team to enhance patient flow and maintain accurate medical records.
  2. Handle incoming calls, take detailed messages, and provide information to patients in a courteous manner.
  3. Process patient registrations efficiently to minimize wait times.
  4. Verify patient eligibility and document insurance details accurately.
  5. Educate patients about clinic procedures and services as necessary.
  6. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices.
  7. Ensure compliance with safety and health regulations in all interactions.
  8. Respond promptly to patient inquiries and concerns, ensuring high levels of customer service.
  9. Assist in scheduling appointments and managing patient flow to optimize clinic operations.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with regulations.
  11. Attend mandatory meetings and training sessions as required.
  12. Stay informed about changes in healthcare regulations and clinic policies.
  13. Perform clinical tasks such as obtaining vital signs and assisting with examinations.
  14. Prepare treatment areas and ensure cleanliness and organization.
  15. Assist with the management of medical supplies and equipment.
  16. Support the administrative team with clerical tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Medical Assistant certification is required.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records and office software.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Commitment to providing quality healthcare to underserved populations.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.

This role is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of the clinic and ensuring that patients receive the care they need in a supportive environment.
