Position Overview:

The Medical Assistant and Reception Coordinator plays a vital role in ensuring smooth operations within the healthcare facility. This position involves assisting patients in understanding the guidance provided by their healthcare professionals, performing essential patient care tasks, managing medical calls, and maintaining accurate medical records.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the medical team to enhance patient flow and manage documentation effectively.
  2. Take clear and detailed messages for the medical staff.
  3. Maintain a welcoming and professional demeanor when interacting with patients and colleagues.
  4. Facilitate patient registration and processing to minimize wait times.
  5. Verify patient eligibility for services and document insurance information accurately.
  6. Screen patients for eligibility in various programs and ensure proper documentation is maintained.
  7. Provide explanations of clinic procedures and fee structures to patients as required.
  8. Engage in ongoing professional development through training and educational opportunities.
  9. Adhere to all safety and health regulations, policies, and procedures.
  10. Identify and implement strategies to enhance patient care quality and service delivery.
  11. Respond promptly to inquiries from patients and healthcare providers.
  12. Deliver exceptional customer service to all patients.
  13. Assist in managing patient scheduling and flow to optimize operational efficiency.
  14. Address patient concerns in accordance with established policies.
  15. Contribute to the development and review of clinic policies and procedures.
  16. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by safeguarding patient information.
  17. Participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions as scheduled.
  18. Stay informed about relevant legal and regulatory changes affecting the role.
  19. Maintain a positive and proactive attitude in all interactions.
  20. Conduct point-of-care testing and document results accurately.
  21. Assist in obtaining necessary authorizations for patient services.
  22. Guide patients to various areas within the facility as needed.
  23. Review patient information for completeness and accuracy.
  24. Notify providers when patients are ready for consultation to ensure efficient service delivery.
  25. Maintain cleanliness and organization in patient care areas.
  26. Prepare supplies and equipment for minor medical procedures.
  27. Conduct regular checks of medical supplies to ensure availability and compliance.
  28. Manage patient records in accordance with confidentiality standards.
  29. Schedule tests and follow up on referrals as required.
  30. Foster effective communication with patients regarding their healthcare needs.
  31. Assist patients in completing necessary documentation accurately.
  32. Measure and record vital signs and other relevant patient data.
  33. Support clinicians during examinations and procedures.
  34. Ensure treatment rooms are prepared and sanitized for patient visits.
  35. Administer routine laboratory tests and maintain equipment readiness.
  36. Monitor and maintain medical equipment and supplies.
  37. Perform other duties as assigned to support clinic operations.

Qualifications:

  • Certification as a Medical Assistant is required.
  • Experience in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills are essential.
  • Current CPR certification is mandatory.
  • Demonstrated initiative and attention to detail in task completion.
  • Proficiency in administrative procedures and computer systems is advantageous.
  • Valid driver's license and automobile insurance are required.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality healthcare to underserved populations.
  • Willingness to adapt to organizational changes and growth.
  • Fluency in Spanish is required.
