Position Overview: Healthcare Support Specialist

Our skilled healthcare professionals, including Nurse Practitioners, are proficient in administering advanced infusion therapies for a diverse array of complex medical conditions. We work in close collaboration with specialists across the organization to ensure our patients receive comprehensive care throughout their treatment journey.

The Infusion Unit features a spacious sixty-bed/chair setup within the Hematology-Oncology Division, comprising eighteen beds and forty-two chairs, designed to accommodate our patients comfortably.

Importance of This Role:

The Healthcare Support Specialist will play a vital role in assisting Registered Nurses within the Infusion Unit by performing various tasks such as phlebotomy, EKGs, patient transport, room and equipment checks, and supporting patients with their daily needs, including dressing and feeding. Our team is dedicated to responding promptly to patient requests, maintaining confidentiality, ensuring patient safety, and communicating with respect and professionalism.

Eligibility for Position Changes: Employees must complete six months in their current role before being eligible for transfer, promotion, or demotion. Early transfers may be considered with departmental approval.

Required Qualifications:

Strong customer service skills and the ability to engage with diverse patient populations, staff, and healthcare providers. Proven problem-solving abilities, with a focus on interpersonal communication, attention to detail, and organizational skills. Capability to safely lift and transport patients using appropriate techniques.

Preferred Qualifications: Recent experience or training in clinical patient care is highly desirable.

Required Credentials: Candidates must be licensed, certified, or enrolled in an accredited Nursing Assistant, Medical Assistant, Mental Health Technician, or EMT program at the time of hire, or be enrolled in a Nursing program with at least one semester of patient care rotations completed, or be in a Pre-Med or PA undergraduate program.
